It is with great pleasure that the organizers of the 32nd IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering invite you to take part in ICDE 2016 to be held in Helsinki, Finland, from May 16 to 20, 2016. As the capital of Finland, Helsinki is a vibrant city on the Baltic Sea renowned for its design and friendly atmosphere. The venue is at Aalto University's School of Business, which is located right in the city center.

Social Program

The following is a list of social activities related to ICDE 2016.

Monday: Welcome Reception

  • Event: Helsinki City Hall Reception.
  • Date & Time: Monday, 16 May 2016 at 7pm.
  • Place: Helsinki City Hall, Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13.
  • Overview: The City of Helsinki invites the participants of ICDE 2016 to the Helsinki City Hall on Monday 16 May at 19.00-20.30. The City Hall is located next to the Market Square (Pohjoisesplanadi 11-13). Designed by the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1833, the City Hall is a central administrative building of the City of Helsinki.
Please remember to indicate your participation to the City Reception on the registration form even though it is included in the conference fee. Please also note that it might not be possible to register to the City Reception on-site.

Wednesday: Conference Banquet

  • Event: Conference Banquet.
  • Date & Time: Wednesday, 18 May 2016.
  • Place: Finlandia Hall, Mannerheimintie 13.
  • Overview: The Conference Banquet will take place in Finlandia Restaurant at the Finlandia Hall. Finlandia Hall is a masterpiece by the renowned Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto, and worth a visit in its own right. Its combination of an aesthetic vision, distinctive atmosphere, and functionality is unique. Its location in a park by the sea in the centre of Helsinki provides the final touch to a building that has no equal, either in Finland or anywhere else.

The Conference Banquet will be arranged on Wednesday 18 May and it is included in the conference fee. It will be possible to register accompanying persons to the Conference Banquet at a cost of EUR 120 per person.
